INTRODUCTION

Last chance to get 'The Final Chapter' by May 6

Brian Livingston By Brian Livingston

We're not publishing a regular newsletter on April 30, because when a 5th Thursday of the month occurs, we like to give our writers a break.

Today's special news update has just one story — letting you know that our current free giveaway is expiring and a new one is about to begin.

Every so often, we license some up-and-coming content and make it available to our subscribers at no charge before the work even ships to the general public.

On April 16, we announced that all Windows Secrets subscribers could download two chapters from the new hardcover book Stealing the Network: The Complete Series Collector's Edition (shown below). The new volume isn't expected to be in stores until the middle of May. It will bring together several tales that were released in previous years, plus an entirely new section, the long-awaited "Final Chapter."

Stealing the Network is fiction that's based on real-life security exploits. It's a great read, with contributions from numerous colorful denizens of cyberspace, including Timothy Mullen, Johnny Long, and Windows Secrets contributing editor Ryan Russell. At last, the Final Chapter is the piece that brings the series to its thrilling conclusion.

Our exclusive PDF excerpt, which brings you the Final Chapter and one other, is available gratis to all Windows Secrets subscribers. Because of a new free download that I'll announce next week, however, we must discontinue our Stealing the Network excerpt on May 6.

If you've been waiting, don't wait any longer. There's no catch: you can get your free copy simply by using the link below to visit your preferences page. After you confirm your settings and press the Save button, a download page will appear.

We love bringing you free excerpts like this one. It's our way of saying "thank you" for supporting our research into the back alleys of Microsoft Windows.

Next week, we'll publish another newsletter full of our usual investigative articles. Today, just take a moment to relax and enjoy some compelling fiction from Stealing the Network.
