Looking for easy to use customizable voice control software
I've recently started hooking my laptop up to a TV to watch DVD's and such but I can't watch (and listen*) to media while sitting next to the laptop which makes control very difficult so, I thought I'd try voice recognition.
I've tried the built in software to a point but it has a lot of features I don't want, a major non-feature that gets in the way (it's either listening or not, I'd like to say "computer", "command" instead of having to say "Start Listening", "Press this", "Press That", ect). I also just learned about a bug or something that's making it impossible for me to download the necessary macro program because it requires the MS validation tool but when you download the tool and run it it says the tool is outdated (even when using IE).
I've also looked into something called shoot but it's extremely outdated and has only decent documentation (I could figure it out but I was looking for a quick fix not a multi-week project).
So, in short I'm looking for speech recognition software that's fully customizable, easy enough to set up, and free (I don't think it's worth paying money for as I only want it for a very specific application).
*For clarification I have a very long RGB connector but only a standard size Phono (3.4mm) cord so I can watch and listen from the couch with headphones (laptop speakers don't cut it) but I can't share. This also requires me to have a very long cable crossing the living room which is a dangerous thing during the day.
Below are the commands I was hoping to use (preceded by something like "computer"):
Alt+Enter (?-not sure off hand))
Ctrl+D Tab * 6
Hibernate the Computer
