General backup question
I have Rosetta Stone Installed on a laptop i purchased from someone. I was wondering if there is a way to take it from the hard drive and put it on a CD/DVD... I want to wipe the hard drive and install Fedora 20 on it but I would kind of like to save the program on a disc in case I decide to go back to windows or buy another laptop.
Not a direct answer but you could make an image and convert to a virtual drive image . Then you could run it as a virtual drive in Fedora. You could uninstall all other windows programs first to save on space.
I suggest this because moving an installed program is none trivial in most cases.
There is no easy way to backup an installed program and be able to reinstall it later. As was suggested an image of the current system would allow you to easily go back to your current install. Unless you have the original installation media you are looking at purchasing a new copy.
