    DVD-ROM doorstop

    Bought a bare DVD-ROM drive, Toshiba M1612, "bare" means minimum documentattion, no cables or software. Installed as master on MB's secondary IDE.

    BIOS recognized it OK, Win98 picked it up fine...

    A post on the MSNEWS server asked how to start a DUN connection in a DOS batch file. Was answered with a pointer to MSKB. Found there was RUNDLL command line.

    In my case, the sounds vanished when I upgraded the motherboard, or maybe when I downloaded from windows update a theme from Plus! 98. That added P!98...
