    powerpoint show narration

I recorded a powerpoint presentation with the narration and saved the thing at the end as a powerpoint show. All good. Well... Not so good. In fact none of the audio is audible.

    However, I...

    Excel AutoFormat

Excel (and a number of the competing spreadsheets) has a number of predefined "autoformat" options under \format\autoformat... These define column widths, fonts, colors, shading, and so on.

I just installed Win7 on my laptop and I cannot see how to have it join my preexisting mixed home network.

Win7 uses "homegroups" but these are only for 7.

Any idea how can I configure it to...

Re: hidden folders and files (XP sp2)

I'm sorry: I corrected my original post because I had said "hidden" but they are in fact marked "readonly". A brief hidden abberation in my head.

Nevertheless the suggestion doesn't work: you...

hidden folders and files (XP sp2)

I somehow have gotten into a funny situation. Many of my folders off the C: root have become 'hidden'. That is, some programs cannot see them and cannot use them (though others (i.e. explorer) can...

    Re: WindowsXP (with SP2)

It seems to me that this is something to do with the 'my programs' folder - or at least where the windows default programs folder is directed to.

So, I've made a new, empty folder "progs", and...

    Re: WindowsXP (with SP2)

What I meant by "changes the start menu appropriately" is that the abnormal start menu folder 'pointer' changes to match whatever I've changed the real office program folder to... It is not sorted...

    Re: WindowsXP (with SP2)

Yes, they are identical. Indeed, I believe that they are the same: that the "folder" in the start menu is just a 'pointer' (my term - but gratifyingly the same as that used by the folderpointer...

    Re: WindowsXP (with SP2)

That's a good question: and in fact in Explorer and Powerdesk the folder icon looks normal (or, perhaps, undistinguished.).

I like Norton File Manager because I'm used to it, but it is now...

    Re: WindowsXP (with SP2)

I did run folder pointers (before I got your good advice) but it does nothing bad nor good. Situation the same.

I renamed the "folder pointer" (for want of a better term) on the Start menu - this...

The properties as shown in the screenshot are indeed correct (thanks for reformatting it: I was horrified when I saw how illegible it was - it shouldn't have been so big). The Office 11 folder is...

I presume I did something to cause it, but not with registry modifications, as this isn't something I do lightly and/or frequently. More likely related to some program installation, but I confess to...
