I am not a supporter of web apps.
You are betting that the app will be available "forever" and that your data will be available if the "vendor" goes out of business.
I prefer to run an app locally,...
5 for 29 bucks?
I've been using Norton since the days of the IBM PC, still using it on XP, WIN7, Vista and Win 8.
No issues at all.
And getting the previous year's version at a big...
The CD Key code for Windows XP Home edition is specific to Dell (OEM). So it won't work on a generic XP image.
ANY DELL XP image will install with no problems.
(I doubt you can get it from Dell)....
Academic version of Adobe Acrobat 11 pro is $110.00
DoPDF works great.
And it does not take gazillions of MB of storage, nor does it require any additional emulation software.
I built a new system and installed the previous OEM Win7 Pro on it with no issues.
Had to call Microsoft to get a new Key/code, told them the box broke and I'm reinstalling.
Windows 7, no doubt.
Linux, as attractive as it sounds, would not be an option if you use Windows apps.
Windows 8/8.1, even with a "startup" utility making it "look" like Win7 is not a good...
See the other thread re XP Updates failing.
Started happening a few months ago.
On my 2 "native" XP machine, as well as in the WIN7 PRO XP box.
ALl running XP3 etc.
Lots of free space.
Something Microsoft did.
If you run task manager...
I run MSE on a netbook/WIN7 Pro and an XP box, as well as on a couple of my relatives' XP boxes. No issues.
I also run Norton Internet Security on XP, Vista and WIN7 Pro. No issues there either....
Don't forget the "contacts".
Both the price and "working out of the box".
Been using one on both XP and WIN7 with no issues.
No problems at all.
And (in response to another post) I love " the awful flat UI". That's why I am running Office 2003.
(I also have 2010, which I run on other machines, and 2013 which I am not)
Just a note regarding Acronis;
DO NOT update immediately after a new "version" is released.
I was using Acronis 2013, and stupidly updated when prompted to do so.
The updated version...
On my laptop, there's a "Dell Touchpad" under "Mouse" in Control Panel.
You can also try the Dell Utility "quickset".
One of the options there is "disable touchpad"
Not in Startup, you can run...
I am getting the same kind of errors you did a couple of years ago.
Don't see a resolution. Ever figured out what was going on?
Anyone ran into similar errors?
(Running sysinternals does not do...
Not to discount threats, be they zero or many days, but if you use an application requiring Java, chill out.
Threats come up every and each day. I suppose we all could turn off our computers, or...
Norton "Safe Internet" rates magical jelly bean site as safe.
I downloaded and used it from the jellybean site many times, never an issue.
You can buy an older Norton Internet Security (3-PC version) on Amazon for, like, $20+
Then it's a free update to 2012.
I use it instead of extending my current Norton installations (only need the...
I beg to differ.
I would say that most home users don't have a choice when replacing and old computer or getting a new one. It's Win7 or nothing.
As far as upgrading XP, I see absolutely no...
I used http://www.techbatterysolutions.com/ happy with them. Price was right, although they do charge shipping.
I believe you need to install both the 32 and the 64-bit versions.
Use the uninstaller first, as suggested above.
There's a long thread on Microsoft discussing the problem.
One solution which worked for quite a few people was to reboot, run CCLEANER then install (reinstall)
If you use REVO Uninstaller to...
