Open MSE. Go to settings. From the tree on the left click on real time protection. See if the check box is checked for real time protection. If not check it. Might be as simple as that.

Don't see a way to disable access file scans on the user interface. Anybody? Did not seem to cause any problems on the initial quick scan.

MSE is updating and scanning now. So far so good.
Joe--, Read the article about MSE conflicts with Anti- virus and firewalls. Am running AVG, Malware Bytes and Commodo firewall where most said there was no conflict so I am completing the MSE setup...
