Could it be that the person was born before the 14th amendment was enacted?
Now you have me worried as I was born in Pennsylvania and so were both my parents...guess I better check the legal records!
Can't argue with <2 seconds in Excel. Out of curiosity I moved the data to an array processing language (called APL) and the same calculation was virtually instantaneous.
Welcome to the lounge.
In column B on Sheet 1, try: =SUMPRODUCT((A1=Sheet2!$A$1:$A$20)*Sheet2!$C$1:$C$20)
Change the range (currently row 20) to however many rows you have in sheet2.
Are you trying to take the data in 3 columns and concatenate all three and place the result in another cell?
If so, and your data is in A1, B1, and C1, and you want the result in D1: =A1&B1&C1 ...
I'm not a strong VB person, but I recorded this macro with your original "value" in H2.
' Increment Macro
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = _
Are you referring to VLOOKUP and/or HLOOKUP? If so, you can use either with a "block" of data or a more formal table.
VLOOKUP, for example, needs a value you're trying to find (first argument of...
When I fill up at the gas pump in southern CA, I usually think this is the most expensive LIQUID.
But, alas, I remember reading some time ago that liquids like King Cobra Venom (by the gallon) was...
It's the sum of the powers of 2 from 0 through and including 63.
In a related or slightly unrelated question, who is/was the richest individual in history?
This is quite debatable based on...
How about this:
=ROW()&". "&"This is the text item wrapped."
with the column width adjusted so that wrapping will cause the lines to be under the numbered item.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I use form controls and a set of radio buttons, don't they ALL interact with each other?
I need, for example, 3 sets of 4 radio buttons where the 1st row of 4 can...
See the sample here.
That would be if I could get that dialog box for ActiveX check boxes and radio buttons. Am I missing something for ActiveX? Obviously.
I have an Excel sheet that has both ActiveX radio buttons and check boxes.
In some cases, two of these might lie on top of one cell, so I can put a border on the cell.
How can I put a square...
Is this what you want? This won't be correct if there are multiple matches, however.
I drew the attachment.
I found x = 30.
Then, rethinking I found a conflict that x could also be 20.
I can't see where I boofed.
I spent a fair amount of time working it out.
It required constructing a parallelogram that incorporated the original triangle, parallel to the base and one side...
I didn't do it the way you...
I suspect it's 30 degrees
Well, Maud, you must be a Munchkin since your logic is pretty good. :-)
1. If all Quarks are Quirks and some Quirks are Quorks, which of the following is necessarily true?
(A) All Quirks are Quarks
(B) Some Quorks are Quirks
(C) Some Quorks are Quarks
The original macro had this as part of the formula: RC[-4]:RC[-4]&RC[-3]:RC[-3]
When you rewrote it, you wrote: R2C5:R1000C5&R2C6:R1000C6
which led me to think that without...
One of the VB heavies should be able to answer this. I'm not! I suspect there's a different approach when using RC references (as Steve pointed out! -- don't use the brackets).
Why not just keep...
I think it'll work if you make the large ranges absolute cell references:
I saw this question somewhere and wonder if there's an Excel solution.
I don't know a formula that might solve this, but thought someone might. Here's the post I saw:
I need help designing a...
