    Re: PDF Freeware

Have a look at Easy PDF by Visage Software - I can't comment on how good it is, but it might be what you're after.
  3. Re: IE opens with Windows Update not homepage(6 XPsp1)

I've had this happen a few times, using XP Home version - seems to happen when there is an uncontrolled shutdown - power outage or some other lockup causing a quick shutdown. I reset to my normal...

    Re: Word to PDF (97)

You might want to have a look at this site - I'm not a PDF type, but this does at least have a free version. http://www.visagesoft.com/easypdf/

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I picked up the software to provide a quick and dirty solution for firewall and virus protection, et al. Haven't used the other options that you referred to, although I...

    Re: Kiddies' Writing Software

Thanks for the advice - I've purchased a copy of Kidspiration and it is already a hit with my little guy. Clearly it's more of a teacher's classroom tool than home software, but the templates and...

Re: Old Excite Title Bar (IE 6.0 SP 1)

Thanks Joe - I'll try these over the weekend contrary to the usual advice of "Kids, don't try this at home". I

It's not a usage or error problem, just a waste of screen space, and a continuing...

Re: Old Excite Title Bar (IE 6.0 SP 1)

I'm entering this from work so it's from memory. The bar in question is very much like the Google bar, and in fact rests directly underneath Google. It has a window for entering, presumably, queries....

Thanks for the recommendation. I've just downloaded a 30 day fully functioning trial/demo, so I'll give it a try.
  12. Re: Word 2000 - incorrect capitalization (9.0.3021 SR-1)

You're right - a bit strange. vendredi is shown in the Auto Correct exceptions list, but it conitnues to capitalize it anyway.
  13. Re: Word 2000 - incorrect capitalization (9.0.3021 SR-1)

Why don't you simply add the spellings you wish to the Tools/Autocorrect/Exceptions list - I have Word 2002, but I imagine the process is similar if not the same.

I went from ME, which was slowly and then very quickly melting down, to XP Home and have absolutely no regrets. XP is infinitely more robust and stable, and easily withstands problems from downloads...

  19. Outlook vs Outlook Express (Office 97/IE6 SP1)

I've seen some passing references to this matter, but what is the general wisdom on using Outlook Express vs Outlook as an e-mail application.

    At home...
