    Re: Changing 98OS to XP pro OS

    Well, I'm only a tad better off than Hans, in that I've only done a dual boot setup a few times but never with XP and Win98 both already existing. I was Googling around a bit and came up with this one. I've not used it but maybe it's OK to try it out:

    Graphical Boot Manager

    (Don't let the acronym (GAG) throw you! Evidently it comes from Spanish <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> }

    Re: Changing 98OS to XP pro OS

    Hi

    It would be worth plugging them both in and seeing what happened. The Master drive should boot first, so Win XP should come up.
    You should be able to see the other drive (Win98) from the WIN XP OS, as it can read both NTFS and FAT32 file systems. Win 98 will be on FAT32 and CANT read NTFS, so if you boot into Win98 you wont be able to see the disk that WIN XP is on, unless you formatted it with FAT32 when you did the install of XP.

    There is a file in XP called boot.ini, which you can edit to allow for dual booting, its quite easy to set this up, but first best to check what happens when you put both drives in and switch on!
    Thanks,

    pmatz
