Copy Sheets (2007)

I am trying to copy a sheet from one workbook to another by right clicking the sheet tab and selecting the move/copy function. I then selected the book I wanted to move it to and selected move to end and checked the create a copy box. When I click OK, I get this error message:
Excel cannot insert the sheets into the destination workbook, because it contains fewer rows and columns than the source workbook. To move or copy the data to the destination workbook, you can select the data, and then use the Copy and Paste commands to insert it into the sheets of another workbook.

Has anyone else experienced this error and know of a solution? I have used this same procedure countless times with Excel 2003 without any difficulty.

The data I am trying to copy is an extract from our data warehouse that is in a text (tab delimited) format, but again, I have performed the procedure with this extract before.

Thankis in advance,
Greg

Is the source sheet one with more than a million rows (new in Excel 2007) and the target workbook one with 65,536 rows per sheet (as in Excel 97-2003)?

At a guess, I would say you are trying to copy from a 2007 format workbook (which has about 1m rows and 16k columns) to an older version workbook. You should either copy the cells, or try saving the current workbook as a 2003 compatible version and then copy the sheet.

Re: Copy Sheets (2007)

Thank you everyone. That was exactly the problem. My worksheet had been accidentally saved as a 97-2003 worksheet instead of an excel 2007 worksheet. I didn't notice the compatibility mode brackets in the title either
