    Icons (Windows XP)

Hello, I think I have Windows XP (it may, however, be Windows 2003) and recenlty, I made some changes to make all of my fonts look bigger . I then changed everything back, and it was successful, except for one thing: my start menu is enormous. The icons and the writing is big.

I think I went into control panel/display and made some kind of adjustments, but I honestly don't remember what I did and now I can't seem to be able to get it back to its original setting. Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Right-click an empty part of the Windows desktop.
Select Properties from the popup menu.
    Actyivate the Appearance tab.
You can select a style here.
Or click Advanced. You can set various fonts, colors and sizes.

Funny, I could have sworn that's what I had on my Windows Server!

    Re: Icons (Windows XP)

Well I guess I have XP, then. Windows Vista is a horrible failure. I got it on my new laptop and it isn't worth anything. I will have to spend more mony on buying new Vista-compatible programs than I spent on my laptop. I am continuing to use my old laptop until I find a way to get Windows XP on my new laptop and get rid of Vista, which works with none of my current programs (except Microsoft Office).

Also, Hans, that dialogue box isn't quite what I was looking for; in fact, I just want my start-up menu to be smaller. It seems that it has grown ever since I made some changes on my laptop a few weeks ago, and now I can't get it to return to the way that it was. The fonts, color scheme, etc., is all fine, I just want to shrink the start up menu. Is that possible? If not, it's not that big a deal. I just don't like half my screen being covered when I go into there.

    Regards,

    JMT

What programs are you having issues with?
I have found very few with the exception of utilities that will not work.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Does the start menu return to normal size if you select an entirely different theme? Or if you switch between Windows XP style and Windows Classic style?

Right click on the Start button then select Properties>Start Menu tab>Customize button>General tab>Small Icons. That should do it.
