    Quick View file assocation (Home/SR2)

    Hi -

Am trying to use Quick View with XP Home (SR2), Word 2002. The right-click option is not showing Quick View and I am fearful of associating it with a File type because I don't want to override the current File Type (.doc). The options in File Type tab are New or Change.

I rebooted but still no right-click Quick View option.

I was told I could use Quick View with Win XP

According to this MSKB article, you cannot use QuickView to view documents created with Office XP applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

There's a third-party commercial product Quick View Plus that does support Office XP (and 2003) documents.

    Hi -

It's just about a year since I asked about Quick View and Office XP applications.

I have searched for software that does offer this, but they are costly. Does anyone happen to know of a free program now available?

    Thank you.

Perhaps Lightweight Viewers in Context Menu by Alan Miller in the Other Software Applications forum provides a partial solution.

What is your objective in using Quick View? Why Quick View instead of the corresponding Office product?

    Afternoon-

What IS that Office product that permits you to click on a file in a directory to see it rather than opening it?

That might have been, subliminally, what made me think of my Quick View question.

I'll study Alan Miller's post further.

    Thanks.
