    countif (Excel 2003 SP2)

    Hi All,
How can I use the countif function to count the total number of cells containing negative numbers from two different columns? There are other columns between the two columns I need to count, some with negative numbers. Thanks. (OOPs!posted to quickly)

    How about

    =COUNTIF(A1:A100,"<0")+COUNTIF(G1:G100,"<0")

where A1:A100 and G1:G100 are the ranges in which you want to count negative values?

    Hi Hans,
I tried the countif +countif with no success. The formula might have been incorrectly written. I will try again using your sample. Thanks for the help!

Make sure that the "numbers" you are trying to count are really numbers and not text values that look like numbers.
