    Compressed Margins? (Word 2003)

I have a table with two cells that bisect the page vertically. Suddenly all the bullet pointed sentences in both columns have been compressed to the three leftmost spaces. That is, all the text of a single sentence mashed into three spaces. For example, hitting the space bar only moves the cursor up and back in those three spaces.

What caused this and how do I undo it?

    Thank you.

    Neal

Have you checked the left and right indent settings in Format | Paragraph?
If you wish, you can attach (a stripped down version of) the document, so that Loungers can investigate it directly.

I have checked the indents and they appear to be in the correct place.

Unfortunately, it's a document that contains proprietary information, which prevents me from sharing it.

I do appreciate the help, and I hope this won't be too big an impediment.

    Thanks.

You could remove everything that is not relevant to the problem, and replace the rest with dummy text.

This happened to me also. I had to cut the text into text pad. Recreate the table and enter the text back into the document.

When my tables go bad I just smile my coldest smile, wave my wand, and dissolve the little beasts back into ordinary text (Table/Convert/TABLE TO TEXT).

Then (with all the text from the table still highlighted) I poof them back into a fresh new table (Table/Convert/TEXT TO TABLE).

This usually clears out the cobwebs, unless it was a terribly complicated table to start with, in which case I just invoke that wonderful old magic spell
