Hidden link and Updating Issue (2002)

    1]
I have a workbook that appears to have a link, but I can't for the life of me find it. Edit > Links... brings up the window attached below which shows a valid source.
Using the tip in <post#=600,744>post 600,744</post#> I have deleted all drawing objects, and selecting all cells and deleting should have removed all data, but there still appears to be a link.
How can I locate what it is?
    Edited to add:
Checking Source gives an OK answer, and there is no asking if the link should be updated on opening the workbook.

    2]
Another workbook has valid links, and on opening the workbook, I am asked if I want these links updated.
From the Edit > Links > Startup window, I can select 'Don't display the alert....' - bottom window of attached - and this option is saved. However, on re-opening the workbook, the question is still asked.
(The Tools > Options > Edit and removing the 'Ask to update...' option does work, but is not ideal.)
Any clues as to what gives?

    1) You cab use the free utilities FindLink (get is from Office Automation Ltd. - The Excel MVP Page) or Navigator Utilities to find out where the link is referred to in your workbook.

    2) I find the wording of the last part of MSKB article How to control the startup message about updating linked workbooks in Excel rather confusing, but if I understand it correctly, the settings in Startup prompt are useless, since they are overridden by the setting in Tools | Options...

    Excellent , as usual!

    1) With the help of Navigator Utilities, I traced the links to a couple of buttons (which ran macros in another workbook). Deleting them and then saving the workbook was not enough as the Links... option in the Edit menu was not grayed out UNTIL I had closed and re-opened the workbook. Sort of logical in an obscure way - but enough to confuse me!

    2) Quite!

Thanks for the Link links - they will be useful in the future <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
