    Complex passwords - Group Policies

    Hi all,

We created a password policy using windows 2003 server. The password should have minimum 6 characters, an upper case letter and a number. When I created a user e.g. Jack.Webster and then set the following password : Webster1 a message appears saying that it does not meet the policy requirements etc etc. Is this because the last name was used as a password?

    Any help much appreciated.

I haven't gone into this matter thoroughly, but usually having the user's name included in a password is prohibited. Try changing it to Wibster1 and see if it objects - if it doesn't then you have your answer!
