Does VML work properly in IE7? (IE7)

Hi. I hummed and hawed about whether this was the right forum or whether this would be better in Visio, but I'm reasonably certain that it's an IE thing.

In Visio, I created a plan of some desks with digital CCTV decoders on them. I represented the decoders by a circle, and then added multiple hyperlinks to the circle - one to the web interface of the decoder and the other to the web interface of the paired encoder in the remote equipment room. This works well in Visio - if I click the object, I can choose which hyperlink to follow, encoder or decoder.

Saving it as a web page (VML) and looking at it in FF, I only get one of the links. I expect this, as the Visio documentation makes clear. However, in IE 4 or later, I should get to see both links. I spent some time on my laptop trying to get it to work in IE7 (it won't - I only get one hyperlink) before trying it on the company PCs which have IE6.

Surprisingly, it works in IE6, which leads me to conclude that IE7 is broke, unless I've set something somewhere that needs unsetting.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers,

    Stuart

In Visio Insights - Hyperlink Problem in Internet Explorer 7, it says

Essentially, the way Visio 2003 structures the hyperlinks in VML output is not supported in IE 7, and hyperlinks that worked fine in IE 6 will fail in IE 7.

This is about a different problem, but it might be relevant to yours too.

    Hans,

Thank. Sometimes it's scary just how much you know!

Making the fix they suggest in the linked article cured the problem. Now all I have to do is to remember to make the adjustment every time I save a new file, since a Visio patch doesn't seem forthcoming.

    Cheers,

    Stuart

[Sysadmins - perhaps the post would be better in Visio forum after all!]

OK, I've moved the thread to the Visio forum.
