    USB ports 2.0

    Hi all,

I have a Dell 5000 dimension PC, all the USB ports are 2.0. When I plug in my USB hard drive which is also 2.0, a message comes up saying that ("I have plugged in the device in a USB that has a slower speed, by plugging it into a USB 2.0 the device will work faster"). Does anyone know how to solve this problem

    Many thanks,

Does it happen no matter which USB port you plug it into? Perhaps the USB drivers for the motherboard need updating.

Yes it happens on all USB's. And when I bought the computer it worked fine.

Which version of Windows? It sounds as though a Windows Update might have messed something up, so if you have a motherboard drivers CD, you may want to try reinstalling the USB device drivers.
