Setting Folder Security Permissions (VBA/Word/2003 SP2)

I would like to use VBA to control the list of users having access to given folders on the server, but need an insight to the appropriate code if it is possible.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you John.

<hr>Permissions are not exposed in Outlook VBA<hr>
If it makes any difference; I'm interested in handling this from Word VBA.

I don't think Outlook is involved at all - Don didn't mention Outlook folders, so I assume he meant disk folders (directories).

Oooooooooooooooooooh, dear. I was interrupted by paid work and thought I was in the Outlook Forum, hence my interpretation of the question as about Outlook Public Folder Permission settings. Sorry all. I'm a failure at multitasking. <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15>

You are absolutely correct in your assumption Hans.

I am pretty sure the answer to your question would be on the Scripting Guys Website. Try The Hey, Scripting Guy! Archive: Active Directory to see if there is something relevant to you there.

    The basic process is:
    1. Create a security group and add users to it - See the Group and Group Accounts Section
    2. Apply the security group to the folder - ??

I have always found this site a great learning resource - but I can't see a specific answer to your question immediately.

Another forum visualbasic.ittoolbox.com shows huge amounts of API code and appears to perform the required task. It looks like a big task to understand what exactly the code is doing but if you don't need to understand it then it can probably be implemented quickly.
