    INSTALL/UNINSTALL EXCEL2007 (NEW)

After installing Excel2007 I discovered I was lost and could not continue with my projects. The learning curve would be time consuming so I uninstalled 2007 and reinstalled 2000.
When opening a spread sheet I get the message that files could not be found( eight files with .xla extensions.)After clicking eight times the file I want opens. Is there a fix for this?

Files with extension .xla are Excel add-ins. You'll probably have to reinstall the add-ins too. So you should find out which .xa's are missing, and see whether you still have the setup or installation files for them.

Hans, thanks for your reply. This is a list of the missing files:
    ANALYS32.XII, atpvbaen.xla, html.xla, xlquery.xla, xlodbc.xla, updtlink.xla, solver.xla and tmp/tnum.xla.
Are these files on the original installation disk or are they 3rd party downloads.
I have no idea where to start to solve this situation,

Except for the last one, they are all add-ins that come with Excel, as far as I can tell. I have mo idea what the last one is (Google doesn't turn up anything).
    Try the following:
    - Quit Excel.
    - Activate the Add/Remove Programs control panel in Windows.
    - Select Microsoft Office 2000 in the list of installed software.
    - Click Change.
    - Select Add or Remove Components and click Next.
    - Expand the node for Excel, then Add-Ins.
    - Make sure that all add-ins are set to Run from My Computer.
    - Expand the node for Office Tools.
    - Make sure that MS Query is set to Run from My Computer.
    - Click Update. You may have to insert your Office 2000 CD-ROM.

When finished, see if you can open the workbook(s) without errors.

Hans, that did the trick. Everything is back to normal. I want to thank you for your help

P.S. I installed 2007 on my old computer and can now return to my normal computing.
What is your opinion of 2007?

I'm using Office XP at home and Office 2003 at work. I haven't used Office 2007 yet.

One word IMHO describes Office '07 and that is AWESOME! I love it. I have been using it for several months now. The learning curve is about 3 or 4 hours to start. From there it gets easier.
    Thanks John
