    Formula, please? (xl2003)

    The attached workbook has a list of members, transaction types and amounts.
    What formula in the cells "total value of type 2" gives the sum of those transactions for the members listed, please?
    The actual list has about 400 rows and I need to extract the summary for about 20 members.
    I've been playing with inelegant combinations of vlookup, sumif, sumproduct, AND... but have got nowhere.
    I shall have great pleasure in a) getting the right answers [img]/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif[/img] deconstructing the formula (or plural - I suspect there's more than one way) offered.
    The summary list will be on a separate worksheet.

    Enter this formula in F3:

    =SUMPRODUCT(($A$3:$A$20=E3)*($B$3:$B$20=2)*$C$3:$C $20)

    and fill down.
