Frames make page breaks not work (2003)

I have a word .doc saved from a .rtf file which is composed entirely of frames, the 'real' text typing area is reduced to a small block at the top of the page. When i want to add a new page at the bottom of the document, inserting a page or section break leaves the new page just before the last page of the document, instead of after it. I cannot see the reason for this, the page break marker shows up, but the page is in the wrong place. I could try sending the .doc file along if that would help. TIA Frank.

It would help if we could see the document, or a stripped down copy. Zip it if necessary (max. size for attachments to a post is 100 KB).

Re: Frames make page breaks not work (2003)

I attach the .rft file, which is the output of a device to scan forms. I want to add a page at the bottom so as to include text comments from non-scannable fields on the form. To get it small enough, I am sending only the last page, which still misbehaves - a page break puts the new page above the existing, not after it as I want.
(I ended up creating a master document, and making this one a sub-doc, which works but there must be a better way...)
    many thanks

I don't know if the following will work in a multi-page document, it does in your one-page sample document:
    - Select Ctrl+A to select the entire document.
    - Press Ctrl+X to cut the contents to the clipboard.
    - Press Ctrl+Enter to insert a page break.
    - Press Ctrl+Home to return to the start of the document.
    - Press Ctrl+V to paste the contents back into the document.

Thanks Hans, I will try that. I can always record a macro to do the work if it works!

Great, I wasn't sure if it would work with more than one page. Thanks for posting back!
