    Hi,
I have two Excel books and want to merge a column. eg. i have the same employee list on both books but one has a colunm of a start date, i want to merge the start date colunm into another book without copying and pasting. I have attached an example, the information is in sheet 1(book 1) and sheet 2(book2).

You posted this question in the Lounge Matters forum, but that is intended for questions about Woodys Lounge itself. Since your question is about Excel, I moved it to the Excel forum. Next time, please try to post your question in the most appropriate forum. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

You can enter the following formula in Sheet2, cell L2:

    =VLOOKUP(VALUE(A2),Sheet1!$F$2:$G$6,2,FALSE)

Use Format | Cells to format the result as a date, then fill down to L6. See attached version.
