    Continuous Forms Labels (Access 2007)

Recently I have started to play around with Access 2007, figuring I need to learn it sooner or later.

With continuous forms the Labels at the top are coupled with their data fields, so that if you move or resize either, the other is changed automatically with it. (and if you make a column wider/narrower, all the columns to the right are automatically moved). If you delete a label, the data field is also deleted.
Sometimes this is convenient, but there are lots of times when I want to adjust the label separately from the data field. I often delete labels or change the width to overlap an adjoining column etc.

I can't find any way to decouple them to allow independent adjustments. Is it possible?
    Regards
    John

What happens if you cut the label to the clipboard then paste it back?

    Thanks Hans

If you cut the Label, the Data Field is cut also!

You'll have to wait for someone with Access 2007 to reply, sorry!

But then if I Paste back again, it initially places the data field only at the left of the form, but when I drag to a new location, a new Label is automatically created.

I have just noticed as well that if you change the height on any of the Labels, all the others change as well.

One workaround I have found is to set the visible property of each label to false, then reduce the height to almost nothing. You can then use the Label Tool to create new Labels that are not attached to anything.
But if you do this you have to recreate all the labels you want.

Re: Continuous Forms Labels (Access 2007)

This situation ("Problem") is not confined to continuosu forms. Columnar forms have very similar behaviour.

But you can fix it. Right click on the Label, and choose to Remove from the Layout, using the popup menu.

Any form created with the Form Wizard, where you choose Columnar of Tabular Layout , will apply a Stacked or Tabular Layout to the controls.
