    Office 97 (Final release)

Has anyone had experience of using Office 97 (ie specifically Word 97) under Vista? I'm aware that MS doesn't support Vista in combination with anything earlier than Office 2000, but just wanted to find out whether any significant problems are likely to arise. Envisaged use will not involve any advanced formatting other than use of (Insert) "Comments" in Word 97. Files will be created and remain in Word 97 format (ie no conversion between versions).

    Re: Office 97 (Final release)

I have no experience with this myself, but from newsgroup threads about this subject, I gather that Word 97 runs OK on Windows Vista, as does Excel 97. Outlook 97 and Access 97 appear to be problematic.

Note: Word 97, 2000, 2002 and 2003 all use the same file format, so you could also install Word 2000, 2002 or 2003 if you have it, and use it to create and edit documents without any conversion.
