    Lost Drive Letter (XP SP-2)

I am (trying) setting up a Linux OS on a drive shared by WinXP. Glad I backed up the disk (using Acronis True Image), 'cause now I'm having issues with one of the partitions -- the one with all my setup files on it!

It has no letter assignment showing, and no (apparent) file table, so no files showing either -- just the partition label remains.

If I restore that one partition, will it do so leaving the others intact? Or do I have to restore the entire disk?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    Chuck,
True Image should let you restore just one partition without doing anything to the others.
Just set up the restore wizard to select just the one partition you wish and deselect the others.

    Bob:

It won't mess with my lettering for the drives and such?

    If not, thank goodness!

    It shouldn't.
For example, if you tell it to restore Drive D to Drive D, that's what it will do.
Besides, you can always go to Admin Tools and change the drive letters if you want.

Rely on and trust your Image back ups!

    Bob:

    Got it...

I've used TI for some time now (originally pointed toward it by Doc), but never "lost" a drive letter before. Changed / moved etc., but never lost... THAT'S a bit upsetting... especially if it's all your setups for installation...

Well, I'll go do that, and then my SUSE (linux), and take an updated back up.

    Thanks,
