    Vista Firewall (Not sure)

A simple question but I cannot seem to find an answer. I installed Macafee Security and am running their firewall. The Windows Vista firewall has been disabled but I get a message every once in a while from the Windows Security center that I am not adequately protected. I assume I am ok. Should I just turn on the Vista firewall or am I ok without it? Thanks

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

No, you shouldn't run two software firewalls simultaneously - it'll lead to conflicts. If you're satisfied with McAfee's firewall, leave that on, and Windows Vista Firewall off.

BTW, did you install the latest version of McAfee? I would have expected Windows Vista to recognize it.

Hans is correct that Windows should recognize the latest version of McAfee. However, Windows still likes to pop up these occasional messages. I'm running Norton Internet Security and there is a setting - "Show messages from Windows Security Center" - that can be turned on or off. I suspect that McAfee has a similar option somewhere.

Thanks, I have the latest version of Macafee and I will check to see if there is an option to turn off the WIndows security messages.
