Annoying Network Password Requests (2002 SR 3 under Vista)

Every time I open Outlook, I'm accosted by dialogue boxes asking for my passwords (2 mail accounts). Even though I check "remember password," it asks every time. Also, many times even though the dialogue box interrupts any other activity and seems to be the "active window," I need to mouse-click to make it the input window. I am the only user and have no use for password verification upon every startup. Please help, and thank you.

That's a know issue with Outlook 2002 and Vista. The method that Outlook 2002 uses to store usernames & passwords is not compatible with the Vista Security model. MS does NOT support OL2002 under Vista and has no plans to do so. I'm afraid you are stuck entering the UserID and Password each time you sign into Outlook.

Arghhh! In light of your reply, I did the "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" thing. I deleted the 2nd account which I've never used, and changed my password to something simpler and now the Network Password dialogue comes up every minute or so (that's my interval for checking for e-mail.) The most annoying thing is it pops up in the foreground where the next letters I type are in the box!!!! Outlook is making me want to jump off a cliff. Cliff Huxtable, anyway.

What up? Thanks John, for confirming that I have a lifetime of nuisances from Microsoft coming down the pike.

Disregard, I had to change the password with my ISP. Silly me <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15>
