    Email Issue (Oulook 2002/Win 2000)

I have a new email address, as I have changed companies.

My email, when I start Outlook works fine, but if I right click an item, on my desk top and choose send to /mail recipient - my old email address comes into play after I compose and click send. My old emailis no longer valid.

I noticed that outlook express, which I no longer use, still contains my old email address.
Is that the problem, is it still trying to get express to send the email?

Any idea on how I can get this on the right track would be appreciated. thanks

Have you checked your e-mail account:
    - Select Tools | E-mail Accounts...
    - Select 'View or change existing e-mail accounts', then click Next>.
    - Select the account you're using, then click Modify...
    - Make sure that the correct e-mail address has been entered.

I checked that and the proper email is there, and as I said the problem only occurs when I try to send to a mail recipient without already having Outlook running.

Perhaps someone else will have an explanation/suggestion, but in the meantime you could change the e-mail address in Outlook Express to see if that makes a difference.

Does it help if you clean out the autocomplete record for the old address (such as explained in <post:=597,821>post 597,821</post:>)?

Apparently Windows uses Outlook Express as default for this, I changed my settings in Express and saw a difference.
Thanks for the help and direction.

OK. I'm curious, within Outlook, do you have "Tools | Options | Other tab | Make Outlook the default program for email..." checked?

Fire up Internet Explorer, go to "Tools, Intrenet Options" and then the Programs tab.
Is Outlook or Outlook Express selected in the "email" pane?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Perhaps this is cured by now, but... sometimes it helps to switch the setting in IE's options to OE, then OK that, then back to Outlook, and OK that, to completely rewrite all the various entries in the Registry and wherever else Windows stores its defaults.
