    View Photos on TV?

Friend of mine asked me what he would need to look at digital photos on his TV. I set a wireless network up for him so he could use his laptop in the family room and be able to print to the printers upstairs. He asked about having the photos on the laptop and sending them to the TV, but I'm willing to look at other options, too. He had a 32" conventional TV, but just upgraded to a 42" LCD, so he probably has more inputs available than before.

JJ, I think of a couple of options:

    1) Buy VGA to VGA or DVI input (his LCD tv should have one of them) and connect the laptop to the TV via cable. Purchase a wireless mouse/keyboard set and enjoy from the couch <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    2) Buy a wireless PC to TV system (a cheap GrandTec Ultimate Wireless set will be $150.00, but will be lacking in quality). The issue I see with this option is that you'll have a bunch of additional hardware connected to the laptop.

My recommendation is #1 (it's actually what I do at my house with a laptop with a broken screen).

At what distance are you watching the TV with this setup? I have a "spare" wireless keyboard/mouse combo (Logitech) that I'm not using currently, so I could setup a tryout of this pretty cheaply.

I'm sitting anywhere from 10-20 feet away, but can go into the office and still mess about on the tv in the living room (30-ish feet). At 20 feet, I've no issues at all.
