    Footnotes techniques (Word2000)

    I discovered this morning that one can do wonders with footnotes.
    Years ago, for an obscure reason, I wanted to have weirdly-numbered footnotes. Now I can.
    And more!
    <pre>Public Function InsertNote(rng As Range, strRefText As String, strNoteText As String)
    '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
    ''' Function: InsertNote
    '''
    ''' Comments: Establish a new Parent (main-level) footnote
    '''
    ''' Arguments: RANGE Where the footnote reference is to appear
    ''' STRING To be used as the reference symbol
    ''' STRING To be used as the note body
    '''
    ''' Returns: None
    '''
    ''' Date Developer Action
    ''' --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ''' 2007/07/25 Chris Greaves Created
    '''
    ActiveDocument.Footnotes.Add Range:=rng, Reference:=strRefText
    Selection.TypeText Text:=strNoteText
    ActiveDocument.StoryRanges(wdMainTextStory).Select
    rng.Select
    'Sub TESTInsertNote()
    ' Call InsertNote(Selection.Range, "Weird!", "Here is a footnote")
    ' Call InsertNote(Selection.Range, "Weird!", "Here is a second footnote")
    ' Call InsertNote(Selection.Range, "Weird!", "Here is a thirdfootnote")
    'End Sub
    End Function</pre>

    This corresponds to the "Custom mark" option in the Footnote and Endnote dialog.
