Date - Month and Year (2003)

I have date info in a column. I assume it is in the serial number format (I think thats what it is called). I would like to extract the month in and put in adjacent column, and extract the year and put in another.

    How do I do this?

Say you have dates in A1 and down.
In B1, enter the formula =MONTH(A1)
In C1, enter the formula =YEAR(A1)
Select B1:C1 and fill down as far as needed.

Format it as General and you will see the number (the month is a number 1-12). If it is formatted as a date you will get 1/1/1900 - 1/12/1900. "Day"0" is 12/31/1899...
