Sheet Protection / Forms (XL2003)

Looking at the screen snipet below, I have applied protection to this sheet. Prior to applying protection, I unlocked all of the yellow cells as this is where the user would enter info. It is also necessary for the user to be able to make changes to values in the combo boxes and option buttons. I have right clicked on every option button, Format Control | Protection | and unlocked... Same with the combo boxes. Still, I am unable to make changes to those forms while the sheet is protected.

The sheet is of no use if I can't protect it and still make choices using the forms I've put on the sheet.

Okay. I tinkered around and found the solution. I started to just delete the question but I reckoned that someone else may benefit from the answer.

Unlocking the forms is not what needs to be done. In fact, the forms should be LOCKED to prevent moving them, resizing them, etc.
To make the forms "work", you must unlock the cell that is linked to the forms. In my own example, several cells on row 23 were used as the link and those had to be unlocked, otherwise sheet protection would keep the value from changing.

Congrats on finding the solution yourself. Yes the linked cell must be unprotected since as you surmised if the linked cell is not, it is protected and thus can not be changed.

PS. No you are not the first to answer your own question. It happens on occasion and it is appreciated so that others may learn from the answer.
