track changes (2003 SP2)

I edited a document with track changes on.
I reviewed and accepted or rejected all the changes.
I checked by reviewing again and got a message saying the document had no tracked changes.
I protected the document so that only tracked changes were allowed.
I sent it to several other people.
One of them contacted me and said all of my old markups were visible on the copy they received.
I double checked every thing. I sent them another copy after checking and making sure it had no tracked changes in it.
They said it too had all of all my old markups visible.
I went through the whole process again. This time I put a marker in the header of the first page to eliminate any possibility that we were looking at different documents.
Again they said they could see all of my old markups.

Did you save the document after accepting/rejecting all tracked changes?

Also (I forgot to ask): did you turn off Track Changes?

If you

a) turn off Track Changes, *and*
select Show | Reviewers from the Reviewing toolbar and make sure that 'All reviewers' is ticked, *and*
accept or reject all tracked changes, *and*
c) save the document,

there shouldn't be any tracked changes left for others to see.

I did save it. I turned off track changes, but as I said, I then protected the document to allow only tracked changes. I did not tick off "all reviewers". But I was the only reviewer when I sent it out.
I have also checked the attachments that I sent out. As you know, Outlook saves outgoing attachments separately from the original document that was attached. So I can open the attachment from the original message in the

Something went wrong here - the document you attached is 162 bytes in size, which is absolutely impossible for a Word document.

When I open this document, I don't see any tracked changes, and Word tells me there aren't any.

Could you ask the recipients to provide some kind of proof of their claims? As far as I know, it is impossible that they could see tracked changes with all the precautions you have taken.

I have done that and I am waiting for a reply.

However, in my telephone discussions with them they were able to identify several canges I recognized.

Re: track changes (2003 SP2)

I heard from the recipient who states now that this document is clean and does not contain any markups. I am very sorry if I wasted your time. As I indicated in my previous message I made a significant effort to assure that they were looking at the same document I was sending. The only difference between the document I posted and the one I sent them in my third attempt was that I deleted quite a few pages in the middle of the document to meet the file size limits of the Lounge.
They had previously identified markups in the pages that remained.
Thanks for your efforts and I again apologize for the waste of time.
