    Re: Problems with ftp of files

    Looking at this, are you using Dreamweaver and using the Create Web Photo Album function, and if so have you copied the thumbnail folder into the root folder of the website and not to your local drive.

    Secondly, what FTP software are you using Dreamweaver (assuming YES from above) or another one such as ACE?

    Well there is not much we can do without code, screen dumps just show the symptom.

    Can you just send the page code in a text file?

    Re: Problems with ftp of files

    I am using ACE to ftp files. The files are in one folder which is in the root directory. within this folder is the images and thumbnails.

    Ok and the second question...are you using Dreamweaver to create the gallery as this creates horrific names for the Thumbnails.

    I also suggest you cahnge the file names as all those spaces and parenthesis will also have an effect.

    Re: Problems with ftp of files

    Do the image filenames have SPACES in the name? Sometimes spaces can be problematic. Try a rename with one or two to take out the spaces and see if that helps. Of course, you will have to change some HTML too won't you? Otherwise, it's tough to help you with so little to go on.

    Edited: Sorry Jezza, didn't mean to be right on top of you like that!

    Re: Problems with ftp of files

    The problem is with the pathname for the pictures, see coding, is there an easy way to change all 30 files?

    imagepreload.src = "../images/Xmas meal 2006 - Jurys Inn (2).jpg";
    }

    window.onload=PageLoaded;
    //--></script>

    </head>

    <body>

    <div align="center">
    <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0">
    <tr align="center">
    <td>
    <a href="image2.html"><img src="../images/Xmas meal 2006 - Jurys Inn (1).jpg"

    Re: Problems with ftp of files

    yep, with note pad you can do a find and replace.

    Currently the path is to a folder higher up the root hierarchy, you can do a find and replace on ../

    Re: Problems with ftp of files

    Did you try removing the spaces and parenthesis from the filenames as Jezza suggested? You could also try shortening the file names.

    When you right-click the image placeholder of a missing thumbnail, it should give you the full pathname to the image - e.g.
    <code>http://www.website.com/images/Xmas meal 2006(1).jpg</code>.
    Is this pathname what you expect, and does the image actually exist at that location?

    Re: Problems with ftp of files

    Hi again

    Sorry, I have been out on a shopping trip with the family <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>

    Being aware that the website is private, is there a way you could screen dump me the folder structure of your website. It may mean you redoing the structure

    1) Create a folder (root) and place the html file in it
    2) In this root folder create a set of sub folders, images, thumbnails etc
    3) As noted by a couple of people, get rid of the gaps in the file names

    In that way when you create the links they will look like this:

    images/xmasmeal2006jurysinn2.jpg

    Creating a good folder structure and disciplining yourself to naming convention.
