Outlook Connector won't allow default account (MSO 2003)

I set up the latest (? - 12.0.4518.1047) version of MS's Outlook Connector yesterday.

But it has changed my default email account to my Hotmail account, and won't let me change it back -- gives me errors when I try to adjust it.

    Is this at all "fixable"?

    Regards,

I see nothing about Hotmail all that is listed is

    "The following is also required:
A paid subscription-based e-mail account from MSN Hotmail, Windows Live Mail, Office Live, or Windows Live Custom Domains"

    at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Dave:

As of (?) Ms decided to not require a paid subscription to use Outlook Connector... still need to for Calendar and Contacts syncing, but not for email.

And it works fine -- for Hotmail, new or old versions. But it absolutely forces Hotmail as your default account.

The version you're pointing to (in the link is msnolcon.msi, v1.0, 11/12/06. The latest is 12.0.4518.1046,

    Microsoft Office Outlook Connector

Also, I think where I first saw the info was in Diane Poremsky's newsletter, Outlook Tips

You link is not working, but I found one dated 7/17/2007 and it has the following, still MUST have MSN Hotmail paid version.
    System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows Vista; Windows XP
This download works with the following Office programs:

    Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
    Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
    The following is also required:

Internet access via dial-up or broadband (provided separately); local or long-distance charges may apply
For Calendar Tasks and Notes Functionality

A paid subscription-based e-mail account from MSN Hotmail, Windows Live Hotmail or Office Live

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Dave:

I believe what the page ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en says is that :

    ***
    System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows Vista; Windows XP
This download works with the following Office programs:

    Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
    Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
    The following is also required:

Internet access via dial-up or broadband (provided separately); local or long-distance charges may apply

*** For Calendar Tasks and Notes Functionality ***
A paid subscription-based e-mail account from MSN Hotmail, Windows Live Hotmail or Office Live

    *******

In fact I know that part works, because my email account (all) DO work with the Connector installed. It's just that it "demands" that Hotmail be the default.

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

(BTW: this link works, 'cause I'm at it in another window... but Inet traffic seems ghastly today.

I've got the connector installed on three PCs. The default account was NOT changed on any. What specific errors are you receiving? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

    Loe:

I had resolved this before the crash... sorry...

I had connected up with Diane Poremsky, and she suggested that my e-mail addresses could be the issue, and that I should re-build them one at a time.

    That worked.

Once I did that all seemed to work.

TThanks for your assistance as well...
