Error accessing Internet Options Menu (IE 5.01 )
I am receiving the following message when trying to access my home computers IE Tools/Internet Options Menu and Windows Explorer Tools/Folder Options Menu. The other thing that has been happening is that my homepage default in IE sometimes changes to a site that is "X" rated I assume and then will not display. I have to go through the Control Panel Internet Options to change back the default homepage, but can not get rid of this message nor access these two dialog boxes. I am running Win 98 and IE 5.01. Here is the exact message I receive. "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

Re: Error accessing Internet Options Menu (IE 5.01 )
There is a key in the Registry called "Policies" that system administrators can use to lock down access to the Options dialog. The Internet Options are discussed in this thread; there presumably is a similar group of settings for Folder Options.
As for the X-rated home page, you might have one of those creative viruses. If you don't have up-to-date antivirus software, you can get a free scan from Trend Micro at http://housecall.antivirus.com/.
