Menu commands missing (IE 6 SP2)

I have recently had my pc re-built as I was having problems with it. Now when I open an Excel spreadsheet in IE I do not have any commands on some of the meanus. If I click the Edit menu there is nothing there where as before I could use find to search for items in the spreadsheet. Any ideas?
    Thanks

Just a guess: do you always display full menus in Excel? (You can set this in Excel by selecting Tools | Customize and activating the Options tab).

Alternatively, you could turn off "Browse in same window" for the XLS file type: select Tools | Folder Options... in Windows Explorer, activate the File Types tab, select XLS, then click Advanced and clear the "Browse in same window" check box. Spreadsheets will then open in a separate Excel window if you open them from Internet Explorer. You'll have the full functionality of Excel available.

    Hello,

Thanks for the advice but I still have the problem. I tried what you suggested. Still do not have any commands on the menu accessing an excell spredsheet via IE. Could do it a few days ago.

Sorry, no idea. Have you tried clearing the "Browse in same window" check box?

    Hans,

Thanks but I have tried all you suggested and I still can not use Edit, Search as there are no commands on the menu bar when using Excel via IE 6

That's strange - if you turn off 'Browse in same window' for the XLS file type, workbooks should open in a standard Excel window when opened from Internet Explorer, instead of in the browser window. The Excel window should have the standard Excel menus.
