    Re: View Function Key Toolbar (97, 2000)

    The Function Key Toolbar was introduced in Word 2000 so this doesn't apply to Word 97 users. Perhaps you meant Word 2000 and Word XP? <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

    Oops! Guess I'll have to write one for Word 97 then, won't I.

    No macro is necessary. One can go to Tools|Customize and click on the Toolbars tab, and check the checkbox against Function Key Display. Of course, this too is for Word 2000.

    View Function Key Toolbar (97, 2000)

    (Oops! Applies only to Word 2000+)
    Anyone miss the F3-F3 key sequence from Word Perfect that popped up a screen showing what the function keys did?

    Word has a (sort-of) toolbar that shows the function keys but it isn't that easy to get to. It doesn't show up under View => Toolbars. The following macros will display it.
    <pre>Sub ShowMeFunctionKeys()
    Commandbars("Function Key Display").Visible = True
    End Sub
    </pre>

    The following macro would toggle this display:
    <pre>Sub ToggleFunctionKeysDisplay()
    With Commandbars("Function Key Display")
    .Visible = Not .Visible
    End With
    End Sub
    </pre>

    Also, per Rajesh, it is available using the Customize dialog box. Right-click on any toolbar, select Customize, and then click on the toolbars tab. Check the box for Function Key Display.

    Rajesh,

    So I'm a little behind on my reading. But this was good.

    Guess what happens when, while the function key toolbar is active, you press CTRL, or SHIFT, or CTRL+SHIFT, etc. The labels on the toolbar change to show what the key is with the combination.
