If you knew Sandy...

Sandy likes America but not New Zealand. She likes Bolivia but not Mexico, and she likes Tasmania but not England. Following the same rule, will she like Maryland or Colorado?

I have a different solution using a different rule. I actually stole this puzzle from a Mensa quiz in the back of an airline magazine... You figure they would have seen the additional possibility?

Living in Colorado, the answer was obvious to me . Then I noticed the ones she liked were more sesquipedalian, at least metrically. I'm curious now what the other answer is.

The mensa answer was Maryland - as Sandy liked places that were named after people.

    Re: If you knew Sandy...

Mensa said to follow the same rule in deciding between Colorado or Maryland - so saying she liked Maryland because she liked places named after people is contrary to their directions! Anyway they should have asked me in the first place! I would have said anyplace in the USA would be great and I do want to go to England too. And yes, my name is Sandy!

And Colorado was no doubt named after Colo, a Microsoft MVP for Excel...

Guess they could have called it Marialand. I'm hoping my next trip across the big pond will take me to Oslo or Venice . I don't believe either of these places were named after people.

No Colorado is the spanish for "Color Red" who i believe is a distant relative of the singer Simply Red. I believe that Simply's relative was the one who named the state.

    Ah, that's much more plausible
