Transfer memo field updates to SQL Server 7 (2000)

I am trying to update SS7 tables from memo fields in Access using a SQL statement and a stored procedure created on the fly - basically a SS7 SQL statement: dbo.table set ...where ...

The problem I get is that I am building the sql statement with string variables and the data portion can get quite long - longer than 255 chars.

Can anybody suggest a means of getting this to work with large bits of text - it works with smaller pieces, so the principal is sound

    Thanks

    Bill

Re: Transfer memo field updates to SQL Server 7 (2000)

I've managed to solve this myself. I created a stored procedure in SQLServer with 2 parameters, one for the id field and one for the memofield. Then I created a passthrough with the name of the sp and variables in the client database and ammended the sql dynamically in code. It works. NB in SQLServer, you need to explicitly say how big your id variables are in characters if you are using varchar, otherwise it just takes the first character of the variable. NB. I am not using ADO
