    Combining Emails - Help!! (Outlook 2003 sp3)

I am successfully able to print multiple emails to a single .pdf file using primopdf. However, in doing so I have 2 confirmation clicks to get through for each email. One is to confirm the filename, which at the moment is called file.pdf. I click okay, then get another confirmation to append or overwrite this file. In primopdf I have the box checked to remember that decision, but it still prompts me. I don't know how to disable these prompts. What would be helpful is an automated enter hitter. Does anyone know what I mean? I have almost 200 emails to combine into one .pdf file. I am wide open to any and all ideas.

    Thanks,

    --Jim

Check out AutoHotkey - Free Mouse and Keyboard Macro Program with Hotkeys and AutoText. It may be overkill for what you want but it will do the job.

    Thanks Joe,

You were right. I looked at it and it looks like a steep learning curve for me. In the world of computers, some things come easy for me, othe things not so. I had a program a few years ago that did the auto click thing when sending plain text mailmerge emails. Without it I had to hit the enter key for each one ... but that may be different than trying to print to .pdf.

If you are willing (or within requirements, able) to save these messages in text only format (you will lose all RTF and HTML formatting, so notes, amendments, and tables will become munged), Outlook will File | Save As multiple selected messages as a single text file, which you could then print to PDF. Perhaps there's a way to save all as HTML and concatenate them to a single file, but I don't have any expertise with that.

oooh, you might be onto something here. Let me give it a shot and see what happens. I wonder what will happen with the attachments. I'll let you know.

    Thanks,

Okay, I did it that way and it works great. It does not include the attachments, but I will figure something else out for them. I'm not certain that I need them for this purpose anyway.

    Thanks again,

In plain text only, the message should show a line stating :

    Attachments: myattachment.ext

and no more. You might see what happens if you check Print | Print Attached Files.

The Save Attachments item is grayed out unless the email is open. Just selecting from the folder doesn't work out. When the emails are open, the attachments will print, one at a time. I guess if I had an easy way to harvest the attachments from the emails in the folder and save them to a separate folder in My Documents or something, then I might be able to just save them on the same CD as the file containing 195 emails.

    Thanks,

You'll find lots of Attachment Management Tools listed on the Slipstick site.

JohnBF has written a very useful Outlook Attachment Removal Manager. I have attached a slightly modified version of his add-in that has an option to save and remove ALL attachments in ALL selected e-mails.

Jim, did you mean the Print Attachments box? If so, <img src=/S/bummer.gif border=0 alt=bummer width=15 height=15> you're out of luck. (The tool in <post:=443,421>post 443,421</post:> may be of use to you in bulk saving attachments.)

An application named ClickYes has been recommended here in the past for various annoying dialogs. Another that has been nominated is Buzof from Basta Computing. I have not tried these myself.
