Tray Date/Time (XP MCE SP2)

I accidently changed something in my Windows Themes and lost the three-tier date and time I used to have in the system tray. I've searched here, for I'm sure it was in The Lounge that I came across the "how to" but I can't find it again. I can see, for example in <post:=666,486>post 666,486</post:>, how to make the icons smaller or larger and that determines whether they reside on two or three rows, regardless of the height of the task bar. But the dadburned date/time doesn't want to show the DATE unless I hover.

Can anyone advise, please? (This shot is from my other machine.)

Did you make the taskbar high enough?

That's what confuses my ol' memory, Hans. Here's a little larger shot of the task bar on my other machine, with the middle cropped out for size reasons. It shows that I've got a two-high task bar, but the clock/date is in three rows.

On this machine, I can achieve that (get it BACK!) if I bump the task bar to three-high, but not at two-high. I'm pretty sure it's a discrete font size setting somewhere, but Paul's suggestion to Chuck isn't the one (I tried it). Sheesh, I wish I could (would) take the time to document every tweak I make over time!

Do the PCs have different DPI settings (Display Properties > Settings tab > Advanced)?

Nope, both the same 96 DPI (normal).

What happens if you return to a standard Windows XP theme?

Have you tried right clicking on the clock and selecting TClockEX Properties and changing the font setting there ?? Perhaps changing it to a larger font, accepting that setting and then changing it back to the former setting will kick the thing in the pants.

That's one of the things that frustrating, Hans - this IS the Windows Classic theme.

Thanks for the advice, Doc, but I don't have TClockEx running. I tried it and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to set it up, so I gave up. BTW, I've never had it running before but gave it a try today to see if I could dig out of this one.

OK, but have you also tried setting the color scheme to Windows Standard (the font size is already set to Normal, I assume)?

Re: Tray Date/Time (XP MCE SP2)

I dunno, Hans, I didn't do anything at all to any of the settings except pick (choose) the Windows Standard. I'll poke around in colors and see if there's anything that will change this dilemma.

Now that I think of it, I guess I should go to the other machine and see if I can "save" my settings there under some name and maybe I can find that file(s) and copy it to this machine. Hmmmm.

That's not TClockEX ???? I didn't know you could setup the "standard" windows clock to display like that.

Unlock the taskbar (if necessary), then increase its height. When it's high enough for two rows of taskbar icons, the clock should display as in Big Al's screenshots. I don't use it myself, because I think the taskbar takes up too much real estate that way, but it is a neat feature.

Well I'll be..... learn something new every day. Thanks Hans. But, I agree that a double height taskbar takes up way too much space.

I run my main PC with two square 19" screens, and a double height taskbar on the left hand screen is not intrusive at all. Here's a print screen to show you how little space it takes up.

I can imagine that if you only have one screen this would be a pain, especially if it is one of those wide screens.
