    Cell borders OUTSIDE cell (Word2003)

    Huge screenshot shrunk by HansV

    I can't find any reason for cell borders to print outside the cell.
    I'm using Avery 05735 Piggy-back labels.
    My table cells are dimensioned as 2.5cmx7.6cm, as these correspond to the measured (myself) space left vacant when the label is peeled off the sheet.
    After selecting a single cell, I have used a recorded macro for consistent effect: Format, Borders and Shading, Apply to cell.
    The print preview (cunningly pasted as an insert screen snapshot) shows the borders lying outside the cell gridlines.
    The scanned image shows that the wavy border lines are left outside the cell once the label has been peeled away.
    I have yet to discover whether this affects the flavour of the jam.

    Can anyone come up with a reason WHY the borders should appear outside the cell?
    Obviously I can go back and fudge the cell size so that the borders appear inside the real label.

    With .Borders(wdBorderLeft)
    .LineStyle = wdLineStyleDoubleWavy
    .LineWidth = wdLineWidth075pt
    .Color = wdColorRed
    End With
    With .Borders(wdBorderRight)
    .LineStyle = wdLineStyleDoubleWavy
    .LineWidth = wdLineWidth075pt
    .Color = wdColorRed
    End With
    With .Borders(wdBorderTop)
    .LineStyle = wdLineStyleDoubleWavy
    .LineWidth = wdLineWidth075pt
    .Color = wdColorRed
    End With
    With .Borders(wdBorderBottom)
    .LineStyle = wdLineStyleDoubleWavy
    .LineWidth = wdLineWidth075pt
    .Color = wdColorRed
    End With
    .Borders(wdBorderDiagonalDown).LineStyle = wdLineStyleNone
    .Borders(wdBorderDiagonalUp).LineStyle = wdLineStyleNone
    .Borders.Shadow = False
    End With
    With Options
    .DefaultBorderLineStyle = wdLineStyleDoubleWavy
    .DefaultBorderLineWidth = wdLineWidth075pt
    .DefaultBorderColor = wdColorRed
    End With
    End Sub
    </pre>

    Hans, thanks for the reply, but it still doesn't seem to work at my end.
    I've tried selecting the entire table; selecting the first cell; setting options via the table table and via the cell tab.
    I've re-applied (different) borders AFTER setting the margins in case the margin setting doesn't act retrospectively.
    The Word2003 document is under 100KB, so I have attached it for your [optional] inspection.

    You'll have to live with it. The borders act as they act.

    Can't and won't.
    I'll have to write a little macro that makes allowances for the width of the chosen border and shrinks the cell(s) by that amount.
    It is crazy to have borders on a cell that can't be constrained within the cell. By extension it would not make sense to have page borders that printed off the edge of the page.

    Nonetheless, thanks for the essay and confirmation. I appreciate knowing that it's "not me"!
