    Filter (Access 2003)

I would like to filter a query using multiple criteria on the same field, i.e. Town = Aldeby Or Alpington Or Ashby St Mary etc. The list is too long for me to use an Apply Filter Macro. In the back of my mind I have an idea that it could be done using a Table and an Advanced Filter? Can someone could tell me how this is done please?

    Many thanks.

You can enter an expression like this in the Criteria line for the Town column:

    In("Aldeby","Alpington","Ashby St Mary",...,"Yarnborough")

If the list of towns is really long, you should create a table tblTowns with a text field Town, and create a record for each town you want to include. Then create a query based on your original table or query and on tblTowns, and join them on the Town field. The query will return records for which the town occurs in tblTowns.

    Hi Hans

Many thanks for this. The filter is to do with groupings of towns into districts. I was planning on creating several tables which I could feed into the query. Your way means I can create one table and one query with parameters.
