To Update Website - Suggestions (2000)

    Hi,

We are in the process of re-designing our new company website.

We are an estate agents who run an access database with all the required information stored on the db to export onto the website. We do thisa by a csv import on a control panel. With each property there is upto 6 photographs, two pdf files (again all these or the links to are stored within the database).

At present we have to log into the web admin control panel import the csv which works wel and saves a huge amount of time re-writing the details, etc. We are now looking for a way to 'transport' the pdf and [pictures to the website as well to automate the process completely.

My thoughts were to FTP the pictures to the site that will be in a set location on the web server, so when uploading the csv, all we do is put the url of the pictures? Is this possible within access to automate the procedure?

Does anyone know of a way this can be done within Access or alternative methods?

    Best Regards,

    Luke

What exactly do you want to automate in Access?

I can't help you with that. Let's hope someone else has a suggestion.

    Hi Luke

I suggest that you doing it in two stages, purely from a practical viewpoint. I suggest that you have access export the csv file to a root folder that contains the graphics and PDF, either in their own subfolders within the root or directlt in the root folder. Then use a seperate FTP application to move the dat up and into the web server.

From bitter experience I find that manual processing often is the best way. I am a great lover of Filezilla as my weapon of choice, free and with a very easy user interface ......... my <img src=/S/2cents.gif border=0 alt=2cents width=15 height=15>
