    Hyperlinking (All)

I have previously had Adobe Acrobat Reader installed and therefore any PDF hyperlink I open (or just by double clicking on the actaul file) uses Adobe Reader to open the software - as per File Extension Association

However, I have now installed a new PDF Software called Scansoft PDF Professional. When I double click on the file to open it opens in Scansoft as per the file extension which I correct - however - when I use a hyperlink from Access the file opens in Adobe Acrobat - it no longer uses the new file extension association it uses the old one.

I was hoping someone may have come accross this before and know how to get the hyperlink to open in the correct software without having to uninstall either.
    Thanks.

    Re: Hyperlinking (All)

This is intriguing, because I have a couple of people who can't click on their hyperlinks and get anything to happen, whereas if I do, they work. I probably have an earlier version of the reader than they do -- because of your email, I'm checking with them.
    thx

bgarth -- If you look at post 639613 (sorry, Hans, you posted instructions on how to make this a link but w/ a quick search I can't find it -- I'll look further, later) --
This post was Han's in response to your post created in March of this year (07), with a similar question.

Another thought -- probably not a real "safe" one, is -- I wonder what results would happen if you associated the old extension with the new program? I wouldn't try that unless it was your last hope, because I have found it mildly difficult to unassociate.

The easiest way to create a link to a post is simply to select and copy the post number between square brackets in the post header: <!t>[Post: 639,613]<!/t>. If you paste this into a reply, it will automatically be converted to a clickable link. You can also click the 1-Click TagPanel link above the edit area to insert all sorts of tags into your reply. See <!help=19>Help 19<!/help>.
