    Popping coming thru speakers

Alright I just got brand new Logitech Z4 speakers. Unfortunately when I play musing thru them I get popping out of them. The popping goes thru different speakers at different times (not simultaneous), and does not go thru the sub. It isn't the speakers themselves because when I hook up headphones to the wired remote, the popping goes thru the headphones. I've tried playing thru other players other than Media Player with the same problems. I don't have like anything running in the background except for spyware/virus software and I don't have any viruses OR spyware. I've also lowered my computer's volume to almost zero to see if I was overdriving the volume or something, and that wasn't the case either. I don't have any equalizers/extra bass boost, etc. on either.

If there's any suggestions, please respond.

    Thank you,

    -Ben

    Hi Ben,

Stupid question(s), did the noise happen when the old speakers were on ?

Do you have a Cell Phone/Charger close by ?

Are you using a plug-in sound card or a sound card built onto the motherboard ?

Are the speaker cords crossing over electrical wires ?

    Re: Popping coming thru speakers

From a Google search, I get the impression that Logitech speakers are very sensitive to variations in voltage.
I saw several recommendations to use a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) - this appliance will dampen voltage variations.

    Scott:

    The old speakers didn't pop

I do have a cellphone charger closeby

I am not using a plug-in sound card

And the speaker cords are crossing electrical wires.

Try moving the cellphone charger and getting the speaker cords off the electrical cords if they are touching or very close together.

    Re: Popping coming thru speakers

Hans and Doc Watson have some good suggestions.

Keeping audio cords a way from electrical cords, move the cell phone/charger, and get a UPS (this really helps in filtering noise on the line).

One other thought, my home sweet home is close to a major highway. I would get static and CB chatter over the speakers. If this applies to your situation, try shielded audio cables.
