    Viewing Pane (2003 SP2)

    Good evening

a work colleague has had an upgrade on her machine and now here Outlook is not looking the same as she used to have it, one problem was that her attachments were appearing in the body of the message and not in the attach line at the top of the email, I solved this my changing the mail format to HTML, however she says that in the viewing pane where you have the folders on the left and the messages on the right she used to have 4 columns, the fourth one being editable to add notes and comments, she thinks it was headed configure, I can't for the life of me find how to change that viewing pane to do that

    Any ideas please

    Cheers

You posted this in the Outlook Express forum but you mention Outlook and version 2003 SP2. Which is it?

    Re: Viewing Pane (2003 SP2)

    Sorry Hans

I am not quite with you here, our work machines are loaded with Office 2003 SP2 and our email program, Outlook Express, comes with it, am I being dim or are their different Outlook Express programs (excuse my ignorance but I do not really take much notice of the email program, I just click send/receive and get or send emails, I thought it was all part of the office suite as it loads at the same time)

    Thanks

    Re: Viewing Pane (2003 SP2)

Outlook Express comes with Windows, it is not part of Microsoft Office. The title bar of its main window says "<folder name> - Outlook Express. The current version for Windows XP and before is Outlook Express 6.

Outlook is part of Microsoft Office. The title bar of its window says "<folder name> - Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.

That is the title bar of the About window (from the Help menu), not of the main wndow. But it shows clearly that it is Outlook, not Outlook Express. So I will move this thread to theOutlook forum.

Perhaps she meant one of the task panes? Let her select View | Task Pane, then click the little dropdown arrow near the top of the task pane that appears on the right hand side. She can see if one of the choices does what she wants.
